Dine and Hustle, The L.A Way

Updated: Sep 20, 2022

I’m not greedy, I just eat a lot. To pay tribute to my hungry ways let's talk about one of my favorite forms of self care, food. Nine days has spent a lot of time breaking bread together and if you’re anything like us then you know there’s nothing worse than grinding while hangry. So here are some of our favorite places we’ve been.

This is a new black owned membership club located in the Mid-city area of L.A. The downstairs restaurant has a simple menu with just enough options to cover what you want, while not leaving you overwhelmed with what to choose. It’s also a nice place to check out if you’re looking for a work space with great networking opportunities.

P.s my go to on their menu is the TGS signature burger, add some bacon on that thing and you’ll never look back!

Legend has it, this is a staple in the L.A community so naturally we had to go, and now I understand why. It’s a southern, soul food haven you don’t want to miss out on. The plates are well portioned so be careful, if you’re not built like that you will eat yourself into a coma (Speaking from experience). There’s a few locations throughout the city, but my favorite one so far has been the one in Inglewood by LAX. It’s a great place to go with your team and build camaraderie. Do your due diligence and see for yourself!

This was a solo discovery. I won’t lie, I was a little skeptical to try this spot out at first, simply because I’m a Brooklyn boy and it's easy to mess up West Indian food. If the chef isn’t authentic it will show. I was walking back to my house when I discovered this gem. I immediately made my way to the entrance. I've been home sick and craving stew chicken, rice and peas for a few days when I came across this restaurant. I had time that day! Luckily I was willing to try something new and give L.A a chance. You should too.

Food Truck/ Street Tacos-

Nothings more authentic than a good street taco in L.A. It reminds me of being in NY and looking for a slice. It’s quick, simple and easy to access. They’re literally everywhere. On average you won’t be disappointed. I haven’t been here long enough to know who has the best one, but I will say this, on the corner of Adams blvd and Alsace blvd is a nice place to start. Theres a street taco setup that begins from 5:30 pm to 9 pm seven days a week and the tacos are only $1.50. The copywriting team and community management team came together one day before presentation and broke bread over some fried chicken and french fries from a taco stand near our office. Its moments like that that bring teams together.

My grand finale is a guilty pleasure. I won’t lie, this is probably my favorite food spot I’ve been to in L.A. I know you’re saying to yourself their donuts can’t be that good. I dare to say you’re right, they’re not good, they’re life changing! Probably the best donut I’ve ever had. Always fluffy, always soft, never stale, even if you leave them sitting on the counter overnight (don’t judge me) they still remain the same. Inglewood got one right with this one! It’s a must have, the best way to reward yourself after a long week of grinding hard. I now have half of my team addicted.
